The Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre builds the capacity of political parties and leaders for an inclusive democracy, serving the needs of citizens by networking with national, regional and global partners, undertaking research, training, conferences, and workshops.
To promote an inclusive democracy in Nigeria, and indeed Africa, deepened by strong, issue-based political parties whose policies serve the interest of citizens.
The overarching objective of the Centre is to strengthen the leadership and organizational capacities of political parties as institutional foundation of Nigeria's democracy and ensuring that political parties are policy-oriented, responsive, inclusive and more accountable to their members and the society.
Another landmark history was made on 16th and 17th of August, 2018, when the Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, held a Summit for all political parties, the first of its kind tagged Annual National Political Parties Summit 2018, in grand style at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The two-day Summit attracted who-is-who in political party circles and other relevant stakeholders.
Another landmark achievement was recorded by the NIPSS PPLPDC, under the ever-forward looking team, headed by Professor Habu Galadima, the Director of Research of the National Institute and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of NIPSS-PPLPDC, Kuru, in collaboration with European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) organized a 2-Day Validation Workshop to adopt the reviewed Code of Conduct for Political Parties in Nigeria.
The Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Center of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS-PPLDC), Kuru, started a series of activities by organizing a 2-day training and capacity building workshop for official of political of political parties on their rights and procedure to complain about content and conduct of political Broadcast in collaboration with the European Union.
